Katie Quirk

Katie Quirk started riding at the age of 10 in 2000 under the instruction of several instructors at Oatland Stables in Brookeville, MD.  She competed in many local shows in equitation, hunter, and jumper divisions, and became known as the “go to” rider for everything from ornery ponies to run away jumpers to green broke hunters.  In 2004 was invited to join the local MOMI team. Throughout her high school years she competed on the Interschool team, and in 2006 joined the Oatland NCEL team where she assisted in taking the team to a championship title at Morven Park. In 2006 Katie also started working with cutting horses, and within a year took first place in five out of six shows with the Pennsylvania Cutting Horse Association in the Youth division. She quickly became a professional cutting horse trainer, breaking and starting several top show horses. In 2011 Katie came to Breezy Ridge Stables with her horse OK Casanova, or “Jack”. She currently competes with him in the jumpers at level 4, and together they are beginning their career in eventing. They have a very exciting show season planned for 2012, including several clinics, and training with Christine Betz and Sharon White. With the help of co-trainer Hailey Leishear at Breezy Ridge, they formed Team Chrome, a dressage, jumping and eventing team geared towards bringing up-and-coming riders through the ranks. Look for them at local and regional shows this year!



Hailey Leishear

Hailey Leishear, as a young rider, started her horse journey at the age of 4 years old on her grandmother’s warmblood breeding and dressage farm in Frederick Maryland.  Hailey’s life and passions surrounded horses her entire early childhood. She was surrounded by four generations of equine facilities and horsemanship. This knowledge and horsemanship was passed down to her, her equine journey continued.

Hailey soon found her love and passion was for eventing.   At the age of 9, Hailey began riding with Niqui Johnson at Urbana Riding Club as her trainer and with multiple other clinicians. She became active in the Frederick Pony Club, receiving a rating of C+. Hailey competed at nationals in jumpers and competing at the Culpeper Hits Show Series. Hailey trained many of her own horses from green broke, bringing them to the novice level. She also competed at Training Level.

Hailey also took on the love of dressage and currently rides under Christine Betz, showing Nancy Bowlus’s horse, Don Periginon, a Donnerhall prodigy, at 3rd level .Hailey’s own horse Remembrance, a Rosenthal prodigy, is currently training 2nd level. Hailey has hopes to receive her FEI bronze metal this upcoming show season.  Hailey has been honored to ride under multiple clinicians such as Sharon White (Hailey’s jumping trainer) JJ Tate, Buck Davidson, Jimmy Wofford, Jana Dyer, Christine Betz (Hailey’s dressage trainer) Rebecca Golian, Jan  Byyny and audited with Olympian Stephan Peters. Hailey is a member of USDF, USEA, USEF, USET, PVDA and USPC.
