Stacy Gallagher
Stacy Gallagher began her riding odyssey in Chevy Chase, MD in 1975 as a nine year old and rode competitively as a hunter rider for the next six years winning several local championships. Her journey led her away from horses for several years to the world of competitive bodybuilding where in 1995 she won the ANBC Ms. Maryland title and in 1997 she was the ANBC Eastern States bodybuilding champion. She studied to become an ACE certified personal trainer and utilizes her extensive knowledge of fitness and nutrition to aide her students in their riding goals. After a long hiatus Stacy began riding again in 1999 and has been immersed in it ever since. In 2003 her daughter was diagnosed with a learning disability and hearing loss that was the catalyst for her to leave her corporate job as the Administrator of the Partner Financial Program for an accounting firm in Washington, D.C. to become a home school mom. During this journey her daughter was a member of the Shenandoah Pony Club for 3 years where Stacy played an active role continuing to also improve her own riding skills. The home school and Pony Club experience gave her the unique ability to teach children and adults of all skill levels including mild to moderately handicapped students. While home schooling she tamed a wild thoroughbred off the track who presented many training challenges. His distrustful demeanor required a slow and extended training commitment on her part to unravel his potential. This unique and formative experience with her own horse has given Stacy the ability to work successfully with other horses.
In her 6 month tenure with Breezy Ridge Stables she has built a solid reputation for quality instruction and horse training. She currently teaches handicapped students whose impediments range from cerebral palsey to autism. She works with advanced riders to help them with their 3-4 year old baby horses. She also takes the time to help horse owners with their problem horses to help them create successful bonds with their animals. Stacy’s approach to teaching is to keep it fun and challenging to help students to achieve their riding goals. She also plays an active role in improving the skill sets of Breezy Ridge school horses and training new horses for the school program as well as boarded and outside horses.
As an active member of the Potomac Valley Dressage Association she competes on a local and regional basis and in June 2011 won Reserve Champion. Stacy is on a continual quest to improve her horsemanship. She trains weekly under the watchful eye of USDF FEI gold medalist Christine Betz. In addition she seeks to broaden her knowledge base and skill set by attending advanced clinics with clinicians such as 2010 World Equestrian Games Bronze Medalist Steffen Peters and 2008 Dressage Olympian Debbie McDonald.
Christine Betz
Christine Betz earned her BA degree in education at Indiana University and is Licensed in Education for middle and high school in Indiana. She has taught special needs high school students in Baltimore, Maryland.
Christine is a NAHRA Registered Instructor and a USDF Bronze & Silver Medalist. All scores have been obtained in only two years of competing! She is currently operating out of Dark Horse Dressage.
Christine was the head instructor at Red Cedar Therapeutic Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she was responsible for education of instructors and school horse selection and training. She has and continues to provide instructional riding clinics throughout Indiana & Maryland. Christine learned to ride horses as a young child in California, and worked with her father training and breeding Arabians on his farm in Indiana. While growing up in California, she and her family focused on western horsemanship. Christine had the opportunity to observe the training of Mexican horseman or “vaqueros” and to catch ride for local horsemen. Additionally, Christine learned to drive and school young miniature horses to harness while working for Susan Harding, a breeder of Miniature horses. Upon moving to Indiana, Christine began to train under Monte Mendenhall, a Classical Dressage trainer who schooled his horses in the Airs Above Ground movements and jumping. She trained with Mendenhall until his tragic death in 1993.
Additionally, Christine has worked with John Lyons, and is currently training with Janna Dyer and has participated in George Morris and Axel Steiner clinics to further her equestrian education.

Rebecca Golian
Rebecca began riding at the young age of 5 and got most of her early experience as an active member in the United States Pony Clubs (USPC). Rebecca first became introduced to the sport of Eventing at the age of 12. Before leaving for college Rebecca successfully trained and competed several horses through the Preliminary/CCI* level. Rebecca gained much of her experience at upper level competition with Morcheeba, a young NZ Sporthorse mare. The pair competed in several regional and national competitions including the American Eventing Championships and the USEA Area II Championships. Rebecca was also fortunate to use Morcheeba, as well as other talented horses, to accomplish the highest rating levels in the USPC. Rebecca also gained experience working with young ottb’s, training and competing over ten young event prospects.
During college Rebecca has been able to continue to ride and compete several of her client’s horses through the Intermediate level and through level 7 jumpers. Rebecca has been fortunate enough to work with many of this country’s top professional riders including Julie Gomena, Jan Byyny, Courtney Cooper, Silva Martin, Phillip Dutton, Stephen Bradley, Mara DePuy, Doug Payne, Kim Severson and Sonya Crampton. Working with these top riders has had a large impact on her training and coaching philosophies.
Rebecca recently graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Psychology. She hopes to successfully compete through the Advanced level in the near future and will be working hard to accomplish her goals of becoming a top event rider and instructor.
She currently runs monthly clinics for Breezy Ridge Stables.
